Briefly explain your rating: I’m actually pretty confident that I’ll
become good at this exercise but I gave it an 8 because I’m worried that I
won’t find anything really interesting and then I’ll want to leave.

Briefly explain your rating: I think that learning in this virtual
environment is a great tool to have in my briefcase of skills. However I haven’t found a place on SL that
allows me to practice virtual medicine.
Since my career choice is ultimately to practice medicine I can’t give
this a 10 yet. I would love to find an
area where they have a medical learning center where there are even simulators
that test your knowledge of diseases.
Even lecture areas would be wonderful.

worried about not finding anything very much entertaining.

I had trouble visiting these areas. The link on the page wouldn’t offer me a
teleport in SL like how it does for the other SLURLS. So I am moving to the next SLURL.

I asked a librarian where I can find a free suggestion box
like the one they had on their desk. She
said that she had to buy it so she didn’t know.
She tried to tell me how to identify who made the item because it’s a
great way to find more things. However,
I found myself easily bored. The more I
learn about SL the more easily bored I
become. Not with SL but bored when
people try to tell me how to do things that I already know. The closest example I can think of is when
someone is in sixth grade and they’re stuck in a kindergarten class. I tried to be very polite but the librarian
kept trying to explain to me how to inspect the object when I told her kindly
that I already know how to do that. That
made me a little frustrated.
As I began exploring I noticed many art pictures on
display. The first one I walked up to I
wasn’t completely into it although I did click on it and was given a note card
that had the name of the painting, the painter, and what media the artist
used. I thought this could be useful for
those who want to learn more about art.
After that I wondered over to Goya’s paintings and way awestruck by one
of his paintings! In my Senior year of
high school I went to France and Spain with the art academy at Roosevelt and I
saw IN PERSON the Nude Maja and the Clothed Maja! I read the note card which came with Goya’s
painting but it did not mention the history of that specific painting so I feel
as though I should briefly mention why the Maja is amazing.
Goya first painted the Nude Maja in 1800 at a time when
nudity was highly frowned upon. Due to
unwelcomed demands that he paint Maja clothed, Goya decided to create a new
painting instead. This new Clothed Maja
was created in 1803. The interesting
point of this is that when Goya did not have guests, he would secretly display
his Nude Maja in his home. Then when he
had guests, he would hang his Clothed Maja.
I always thought this was great history behind a famous artist. Art is not just about the finished product
but the decisions artist make while creating a masterpiece.

I was expecting this area to be boring. However it is funny how many areas beforehand
I think will be boring but while I explore them they are not. So I’m deciding to give this area the benefit
of the doubt. As I arrived here I
noticed the way they separated different areas is interesting. Obviously there are multiple topics so the
creators of this place decided to use low walls which give the visitor the
ability to see what’s inside an area without having to walk all the way
around. This is useful to me because
this saves me time in finding out which areas look interesting or not. With so many things to explore in SL it’s
nice not to have to deal with irritating building layouts.
A useful area I found is a wedding area. I recently acquired a wedding gown (for no
real purpose besides it was free and pretty).
This wedding area caught my eye because I thought that they might hold
weddings here and I got very excited at that idea. However I was disappointed and discovered
that this area describes American wedding protocols. Which is useful for many people and the
information they provided is true by my accounts. Their note card tells about the definition of
RSVP and proper attire. Granted this information
is useful but I have a hard time seeing people actually going there to find out
about protocol. I think this place is
one of those places where people might wander in out of curiosity and then they
might learn something interesting.
