That this signifies that there would then be a new state, is evident from the signification of "three," as being what is continuous even to the end, thus what is complete (n. 2788, 4495); and from the signification of "days," as being states (of which above, n. 5122). From this it is plain that by "three days" is signified a complete state; consequently, "in three days," or "after three days," denotes a new state (n. 4091); for after a complete state a new one begins.
