10387. All regeneration is accomplished by the Lord by means of the truths of faith and a life in keeping with them. Therefore baptism bears witness to the fact that a person belongs to the Church and is able to be regenerated; for in the Church the Lord, the One who accomplishes regeneration, is acknowledged, and in the Church the Word exists, containing the truths of faith, the means by which He accomplishes it.
